What happened to the web site?

Nothing! It’s always been like this, honest.

Okay, so I’ve made a few changes. Changed the domain name. Turned the web site into a blog. And, of course, completely removed all the columns.

Why? Well, looking at the mess in front of me, I’m asking myself the same question. But I can vaguely remember why I set out to destroy it all.

The new domain name is something I’ve wanted for a while, and not just to have my name in the URL. While I’ll still be concentrating on writing humour, I’ll also be posting serious posts from time to time. (In case you’re wondering, I’m keeping humourwriter.com and redirecting it here.) Of course, my serious posts may wind up being even funnier than my columns, but that’s something I’ll just have to live with.

Turning the site into a blog means I can now update it from pretty much anywhere. It’s something I’ve also wanted for a while, not so I can post while on holiday (I don’t get out much), but so I can fix up mistakes in my posts when I re-read them at work.

And what happened to all the columns? Well, they’re all sitting here on my hard drive, and I’ll be putting them all back up as soon as I can, as well as other columns I never quite got around to posting. Apologies to anyone who’s linked directly to any of them (though it won’t be any real loss to your visitors, I’m sure).

Hopefully I’ll get everything sorted out quickly, and things will be back to… well, my rough approximation of normal. And if it all goes pear-shaped, I’ll just say it was something stupid I did on New Years Day.
